While doing some late night grocery shopping last night at Wegmans, I came across a brilliant poster on vision with a quotation from Jonathan Swift, the Irish essayist and satirist most remembered for his classic creation of Gulliver’s Travels. The poster read: “Vision is the art of seeing what is invisible to others.” And it is an art, seeing that which your heart yearns for. It is art combined with the faith of believing in the reality of your dreams that paints visions into existence and into something we can actually see.
Visions are one of the most profound things that a human can embody and experience. As Rosabeth Moss Kanter once said, “a vision is not just a picture of what could be; it is an appeal to our better selves, a call to become something more. ”
We are all called to be something more, but not all of us listen. What is your vision, what is your call?
