One year ago today I went on a blind date that lasted seven hours. Opposed completely to relationships, love, or anything of the sort, an unexpected connection on a seven hour date sort of bull-dozed my heart. The heart that I had closed off from feelings started thumping again, and albeit to say, these past 365 days have been among the best in my life.
Life happens unexpectedly, so be open to seeing the world from perspectives that you never imagined possible. Our hearts and minds can and may be bull-dozed, or transformed, at any moment, and when they do, our ability to appreciate the live we have been given becomes more profound. As model actress Sasha Azevedo said, “when you love people and have the desire to make a profound, positive impact upon the world, then will you have accomplished the meaning to live.” Love is love is love: focus on all the variants of love that you have in your life today and give thanks, for, as Azevedo says, it is when we love people that our understanding of life becomes more profound.
My heart leaps with joy today with love for my family, friends, co-workers, and, of course, for my blind date of a year ago, and my love of today, Brandon. May we all feel alive with love every day.
Brief is life but love is long. -Lord Alfred Tennyson
