Philly, the City of Brotherly Love, is misleadingly unloving. Philadelphians are notoriously unfriendly, vendors are overwhelmingly rude, and the city seems to go out of its way to remind you that you are in a city. There are speckles of unexpected pleasantries that brighten the city however, and these moments, places, and interactions are so strikingly wonderful that they fill you with wonder and appreciation for the unexpected.
The best things in life are unexpected, which is perhaps why love itself is so extraordinarily special. Today as I walked the city, I had moments of discovery that surprised me as I strolled the cobblestone streets of Society Hill, meandered through Washington Square and stumbled upon Love Park.
Expect the unexpected. Embrace it, and when love of any type comes your way (love for a person, love for a sport, love for your surroundings, or love for the moment you are living), smile and let yourself be filled with unexpected wonder.
