For a society that embraces food, we sure do spend a lot of time avoiding it and demonizing it. The 70 billion dollar diet industry (in America in 2010 alone) attests to the fact that we have given our voice as a culture to where food stands in our lives. The cycle of instant gratification and convenience has transformed “food” into processed versions of “food” on which we over-indulge and then enroll in “food” restrictive diets to regain our balance. We have lost ourselves and our health in this downward spiral and it is no wonder that as a result, our relationship with eating and eating with balance has gone awry.
The truth is that food is NOT the enemy. It is not until we start seeing food as fuel and as our energy source that we will ever be able to establish a healthy relationship with it. The problem is that we have so demonized “food” that we have in fact not even realized that we don’t really even eat real food anymore.
Your body is your vehicle in life, and you only get one. Take care of your vehicle. Indulge in putting premium fuel in your tank and never, I repeat, never run your tank on empty. Choose real food; it is simply not okay anymore to be “too busy” to eat well. If you are too busy to take care of yourself from the inside out, then you are too busy for your own health and in turn, you will be shortening your own life. No one is too busy to live.
Live well, eat well, and stop filling your life with unwarranted enemies.
