Two years ago to this day I drove to downtown Fredericksburg for a blind date at Capital Ale House. Seated at table 43, that dinner changed my entire life. It’s crazy that one small table can hold a place in my heart — and it does — it clings to my memory as a place of transformation and of love. My table reminds me that life happens in the little details, that great things arrive in unexpected circumstances, and that love can blossom anywhere, especially when you don’t expect it.
Last night I walked into Capital Ale House for another date. This time it wasn’t blind, and instead he was waiting for me at the door with a giant bouquet of pink lilies, but the table stayed the same. Table 43. Our table.
I like to think of December 17, 2010 not just as an anniversary of when I met Brandon, but rather as the-best-day-that-ever-happened-to-me, because after that date, everything changed. Celebrate the people you love for they are the ones who really change your life. And, never underestimate the power and potential in meeting someone new that is brought across your path; everyone has a gift to give, so give thanks and love on.
