The opposite of security is insecurity, and the only way to overcome insecurity is to take risks. -Theodore Forstmann
I often say that confidence is a choice, but I did not always know that. I spent years of my life battling various insecurities, but it wasn’t until recently when I realized that those insecurities are birthed from within myself that I learned how to triumph over them. I am the most insecure when I am trying the most to be like someone else and I realize that I am not quite making the cut, because in all reality, I will never make the cut of being someone else. Whether that someone is skinnier, prettier, faster, or funnier, the moment I allow myself to compare myself to them, is the moment that I am opening my mind to self-destructive insecurity.
I love what Theodore Forstmann said: the only way to overcome insecurity is to take risks. Take the risk of just being yourself. Risk everything on the fact that just being you is enough.
