Self-doubt is a little voice we are all familiar with, but one that we have each convinced ourselves that is exclusive to us; so, my friend, be reassured in knowing that self-doubt is a language spoken by everyone. This encourages me because it tells me that the little voice, that voice that seems so personalized and convincing, really isn’t saying anything true at all — it’s simply whispering doubt, fear and self-limiting thoughts to me in the same way it whispers to everyone else. To me that means I don’t have to listen.
You don’t have to listen to it either. The thoughts that pass through our minds are like trains: they pass by us on the platform, but that doesn’t mean that we have to jump onto them. If we are mindful and aware, we can learn to look at our thoughts that approach, look at the “destination” of that specific thought train, and choose to ride that train or not. Your thoughts, particularly any negative, self-limiting or self-doubting ones, are merely suggestions and they are suggestions you do not have to take.
Don’t take the self-doubt train, and be encouraged by the fact that you might have many of them passing through the platform of your mind because you are growing in mental fortitude and in choosing believe and in choosing the right thoughts as you do.
