Life is like a rainbow: for the vibrancy of its colors to appear, you need to both sunshine and rain. This morning, waking up to the pitter-patter of rain on my roof, I started thinking a lot about what makes my life colorful. As I sit with my cup of British peppermint tea from Fortnum & Mason, even the lighting and shadows in my house seem to stream in different colors than usual. The brillance of the orange, red, and yellow leaves outside the windows make for a stunning contrast between the calming drearyness of the grey sky and the refreshing vibrancy of the raindrops themselves.

I love rainy days. They remind me that the world is filled with colorful beauty in places I tend to overlook. Also, they remind me of the countless rainy days I lived in France. The rhythm de vivre (pace of life) that I lived there enabled me to take time to enjoy the simple pleasures in life, even though I never left my house without an umbrella. Every rainy day is a colorful reminder to me to cleanse myself from my routine, to sit with a cup of tea and to give thanks.
As you walk through rain puddles today, look for colors. If you are stuck inside an office for the day, find a window. I challenge you to see the happiness that comes in rain. Allow the rain to cleanse your world today, both inside and out.
