PLEASING EVERYONE: THE WORST GOAL EVER.

By TrishBlackwell on April 21, 2012 in Blog, Meaning, Movement

Sometimes I get stuck in my own self-lies: I get in the mindset that I can cruise through life without criticism. What an absolutely ridiculous belief, yes, I know, but it is a self-taught belief believed by many that is harder to shake than one would think.

What we learned as kids in the playground rings true today: no matter what we do, there will always be people who don’t like us.  It’s simply part of life, and it’s simply something we must accept without allowing it to dissuade or discourage us from being 100% un-apologetically ourselves.    Accept and embrace this, no matter how much it burns to do so, because if you simply accept it as background buzz in your life, you will learn how to disassociate yourself from it and it no longer becomes personal.

Don’t allow yourself to set impossible expectations for yourself: you simply can not please everyone.   This a black and white, non-negotiable truth, so give yourself a break.   It’s time to stop trying to change what we can not and instead to spend our energy moving forward along our own life journey with as much love and authenticity that we can give.
