When we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others. – Maryanne Williamson
Permission is an essential, and often unspoken, element for personal growth. If you want to achieve greatness, stop asking for permission and instead give yourself permission to excel in being you. Moreover, as Maryanne Williamson pointed out, the more we are liberated from our own fear, the more we will unconsciously give other people permission (and inspiration) to do the same.
We all grow up with permission being granted to us by others – our parents, our coaches, our teachers, and our mentors. These leaders gave us permission to believe in ourselves, permission to dream, and permission to achieve; they were formative in our understanding of the potential we have when given permission to be free in ourselves.
As adults, the only permission we need is permission from ourselves. Grant yourself permission to dream, permission to succeed, and permission to be yourself. Make a list of the new freedoms you permit yourself to have, let go of your fear, and embrace being free to whoever you want to be.
Let your own light shine.
