Connections make the world go round. It never ceases to amaze me how knowing the right people can get you past the rules of life. Moreover, the people-who-know-people-who-know-people phenomenon is what life is all about: human connection, and it is beautiful.
I can be a impetuous shopper at times, and once I decide that I need something new, it’s hard for me to get it out of my mind. I attribute it to being my form of rebellion, since I grew up as quite the classic all-American “good child,” this is the way I rebel — spontaneou shopping. Anyways, this morning, while swimming, I decided that I needed to upgrade my Blackberry to an iPhone today. My contract with Verizon renews in 17 days and thus I am not eligible for a discounted upgrade. 17 days isn’t a long time, but the more I thought about it, the more I couldn’t wait. (I find ways to justify this impulsiveness, you know; this was justified by me needing Internet access to post my blog daily while I am in Miami this coming weekend. I wanted to travel light without my laptop, and my Blackberry Internet is super slow, thus, the iPhone became a need).
Well, through a string of generous people at the gym, someone was able to contact a high-up Verizon employee, and, VOILA, I am suddenly eligible for an upgrade tonight! Isn’t life beautiful?
Yes, we’re just talking about basic people networking here, but really, it’s so much more than that. Life that is lived with positive expectations will result in positive experiences. If you are generous to others, it will come back to you. Once you embrace that ultimately, in this great mess of a world, everyone really does want to help someone else out, then you will start to reap the benefits of the people-who-know-people-who-know-people phenomenon. Life is much less stressful when you live to look for the best in others as you share the best of yourself at the same time.
