I was always too young to understand the Transformers cartoon in the ’80s, but I would watch it because my brother always wanted to. We would play with his Transformer figures and He-Man collection in unison, creating epic battles to celebrate the triumph of the human race. Even though I couldn’t tell you a thing about the characters in Transformers (and I have admittedly seen the 2007 film — I have a terrible memory retention for movies), I do know that I am fond of them. Thus, when I came across this Optimus Prime quotation, I loved it.
There is simplicity in this statement and it made me self-reflect. I know that in my day-to-day life, there are numerous people to whom I do not verbalize my love and appreciation often enough. Sure, I show and demonstrate to them a sufficient amount of appreciation, but sometimes, people need to hear the positive affirmations that we assume they know through our actions. There are even more loved ones in my life, those that I don’t get to see every day, that I haven’t recently told how dear they are to me. This may seem trivial, especially since actions do speak louder than words, I just think that oftentimes we forget the uplifting and life-changing power that words do provide.
Take the time today to tell someone how much you love them. Even if you think they already know it, they need to hear it again. We all do.
