I confess. I spent countless afternoons of my childhood pretending to be The Little Mermaid. Yes, that’s right. I held my breath underwater at our local neighborhood pool, made my feet my fin and dolphined my way to the bottom rungs of the ladder from beneath the surface. Slowly, I would emerge and peer my eyes above the concrete lip of the pool deck in a reenactment of one of the opening scenes of the classic Disney film – the scene where Ariel caught her first glimpse of Prince Eric over the lip of the wooden ship from her ocean home. Gosh, did I want to be Ariel, but since I knew mermaids were imaginary, I resigned myself to reveling in the fact that I could at least swim like one.
One dream the film gave me that wasn’t imaginary was the dream of a beautiful library filled with wall-to-wall bookshelves and thousands upon thousands of books. I wanted a library like the underwater cave library Ariel swam and sang through…but more than that, I wanted to have my own book on a shelf of a library like that.
Eventually, I will own a house with a room of wall-to-wall bookshelves, but, in the meantime, the next, best thing, are the rows of bookshelves that make up the inside of a Barnes and Noble. It is on those shelves, lined up neatly between bookends, that my newest book, Insecurity Detox: A Breakout Plan to Rejuvenate Your Body, Mind and Spirit, has its home for the public.
And, so I ask, what does your bookshelf look like, …and, …. do you have a copy of Insecurity Detox on it? Insecurity Detox is a book I wrote to help cleanse you of self-about and infuse you with confidence. It is a book that will help you fill the bookshelves of your dreams, whatever those look like.
