I’ve been waiting for a Miracurl. No, that’s not a typo for miracle; it’s really a Mircacurl that I am waiting for. I was first introduced to the Miracurl while on a catamaran in the Dominican Republic, way back in May. A fellow tourist sold me on the wondrous capabilities of the Miracurl, and I was hooked.
I have a bad habit of burning myself when I use a curling iron. Call it my impatience or enthusiasm, but I tend to rush process, which is exactly why the promise of automated curls from the Miracurl was like a miracle to me. As soon as I got back from my trip in the Caribbean I ordered a Miracurl from a new, discounted website that seemed too good to be true. It was.
Two months passed, no Miracurl.
After a few frustrating weeks of fraud investigation I was finally able to get my money back. Even though the company I ordered my Miracurl through failed me miserably, they did remind me of something beautiful that I had temporarily forgotten.
The lesson that renewed my spirit was this: the gift of childlike anticipation in life is priceless.
You see, for six weeks straight I eagerly ran to the front door every day, expecting to see my Miracurl package. The promise of the delivery made me look forward to every UPS truck I saw pass through the neighborhood. With childlike wonder, it felt like I was waiting for Christmas.
We all have a childlike wonder within us, but too few of us live with it and allow it to be expressed. It is when we tap into it that we are given license to live with joy and anticipation. I want you to believe that the best is yet to come, because it is. Too many people live in the glory of their past or with a finalistic perspective that life is just about “getting by.” Life is about more than surviving, it is about thriving! If you want to thrive, you have to want to change your perspective and to renew your enthusiasm. Change is not automated, like my Miracurl. You have to want to change, you have to act on change.
Say no to “getting by” and say yes to joyful, childlike anticipation. Give yourself permission to get excited about something in life, even if it’s as mundane as a new curling iron. Joy comes in all sizes of packages, we just have to be open to seeing it where and when it comes.
Stop waiting for a miracle to happen in your motivation and instead, start taking action to make the changes in your life that you want to see change.

Oh, and by the way, I finally got my Miracurl yesterday, thanks to my hairdresser who came to my rescue!
Confidently yours,
