Every few weeks I meet with a group of individuals whom I esteem highly. The “mastermind,” we call it. A group of high-achievers and motivated leaders, I sometimes wonder how I got lucky enough to be included, but in such moments of good fortune, it’s always best to smile and accept rather than analyze one’s own insecurities. Hunched around a table at Starbucks yesterday morning, the four of us babbled around the topics of resources, processes, priorities and content in leadership. It was an espresso energized brainstorm with friends.
Yesterday, a new-comer shared insight on the power of tenacity. She identified the trait as one of the foundational characteristics shared by several world-class leaders and business owners that she knows. Being tenacious, that is, the state of being persistent in pursuing a single focus, is something that we have the opportunity to practice each and every day. As the above quotation states, “our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising every time we fall.” Tenacity will open opportunities in life that you may have never imagined possible.
Make tenacity part of who you are and you will be able to do anything, and I do mean anything, that you set your mind to. Pursue life wholeheartedly, chase after your dreams and goals with confidence and let the tenants of tenacity imprint themselves deeply upon your being. There is no better day than today to train yourself in tenaciousness.
