One of my current major projects is the upcoming launch of my very own podcast. I am both excited about this venture and anxious, because, well, my technology knowledge of podcast creation is barely above zilch. My podcast is going to be called From the Inside Out, and will be a weekly broadcast on living and fitness from the inside out, meaning living and being healthy by engaging the mind in the power of positive thinking. I have purchased a Blue Snowball Microphone and have some loose recommendations for recording from some technology friends, but, truth be told, I have no idea what I am doing, and it’s kind of exciting.
Seth Godin, in his book Poke the Box wrote “If you can’t fail, it doesn’t count.” He is so right on, and that is exactly what makes this journey of podcasting so very exciting for me, because there is potential that I will fail, but, as with anything in life, the greater the risk, the greater the reward. If I want to make a positive impact in millions of people’s lives, which I do, then I have no choice but to make myself uncomfortable and to put myself out there. It doesn’t matter if I think I’m ready to podcast, I need to start a podcast. It doesn’t matter if I’m not sure even how to upload my podcast, or to edit the sound quality, because if it makes enough to me, I will be forced to figure it out. And it does matter, and I will figure it out.
Whatever you might be personally trying to achieve right now is no different. Remember, if you can’t fail, then it doesn’t count. Stop waiting for the right time when you feel like you will finally be ready, or will finally know what you are doing so that you don’t have to worry about the fear of failing. Know that you will never be fully ready, so just get started now and know that if it means enough to you, then you will make it happen. Make it count, start taking action in your life.
