I was asked to give a twenty minute life-skill presentation today through Running Works, a non-profit through Urban Ministries in Charlotte, North Carolina. So, in preparation for this morning, I have been determining what exactly it is that I believe to be the most valuable life skill to develop, and, after much consideration, I believe it to be confidence.
Confidence is the secret sauce of life. It is the ability to know oneself, believe in oneself, and have the courage to know that one’s purpose in the world is valid and meaningful. William Hazlitt captured confidence well when he said “as is our confidence, so is our capacity.”
If you want to be part of a movement that inspires greatness in others, be confident. As Vince Lombardi, once said, “confidence is contagious,” so be a contagious light of inspiration in the world and embrace that the world actually does need you.
