I spend my days watching fat disappear. I oversee twenty-five personal trainers, most of whom work with at least twenty clients each, totaling approximately 500 clients. Add to that a gym membership based of 20,000 people, and you can understand how, on a day to day basis, I see a lot of people losing weight. I also see a lot of people not losing weight – people who are constantly in the gym, but their bodies never change, perhaps because of their nutrition, perhaps because of their workout routine, and most likely because of their minds. So, what is it exactly that separates those that lose fat and those that don’t?
The main commonality that I see in the people who do lose weight is much simpler than would be expected. The people who lose weight laugh. It has always been said that laughter is the best medicine for life, and I am adding to it that it is the best remedy for fat loss. The clients and members I see that do lose the weight that they want are the clients who enjoy themselves and laugh at themselves, and it goes without saying that if you enjoy your journey along the way, you are much more likely to complete the journey itself.
