My husband is a night owl, something I never really learned to appreciate until we started our family and someone needed to be the go-to person to get up in the middle of the night for the baby. Our little one grew, and her sleep improved, but there were still nights that she woke up from terrors or sleeplessness. There is one particular thing he does that, if I wake up to hear it happen, it makes my heart smile – he whispers in the dark, in a soothing, sweet, low voice, the same phrase over and over: I’m here, baby, I’m here. I’m here, baby, I’m here. I’m here, baby, I’m here.
God whispers to us in very much the same way – He stands still, next to us, and though it may feel dark and like we cannot see Him, He is there. He may seem silent, but I promise, He is speaking to us, He is not silent, it’s just that sometimes, like a little one crying in the dark at night, we might not be able to hear Him over our own whining, crying and fear. How differently would we live if we could hear His words over our lives and lean into them with confidence and trust to hear His words to us: I’m here, loved one, I’m here.
I’m here, loved one, I’m here. I’m here, loved one, I’m here. I’m here, loved one, I’m here.
