Please stop waiting for a map. We reward those who draw maps, not those who follow them. -Seth Godin
One week from today I will be in Paris, and I can’t contain my excitement. (!!!) In planning out my adventure through Europe with Brandon, I’ve been playing with a lot of maps, drawing my own map for this trip. It’s a first-hand remember that we can actually do the same in life. Draw a map, find a path, take a chance, and stop making excuses; stop waiting for someone else to tell you what to do and do something daring.
I love maps. They remind me that the world is so much larger than me and than my small sphere of the world in which I live. It is an exciting concept to know that as my understanding of the world grows, so will my map. And, as my map grows, the story of my life will grow and expand as well.
Seth Godin’s words compel me to action to remember every day to stop waiting for someone to tell me what to do and to instead take life by the reigns and take a chance. In his book Poke the Box, Godin answers the essential question that you should be asking yourself right now: when can you start? His answer? “Soon is not as good as now.”
Don’t forget that, soon is not as good as now, so change your soon to now.
