You’ve already been thinking about comparison this week, and now I’d like you to shift your focus from catching yourself all of the times you engage in toxic comparison to others to something new. Over the weekend I want you to compare you to YOU. Sometimes we get so swept up in our daily lives that we don’t slow down enough to acknowledge just how much personal growth or progress towards a goal we have actually made. Our personal progress deserves not only recognition, but celebration!
Reflection of the Weekend:
Write down three things that have changed about you in the last 12 months in the following categories. I believe that you might be surprised with the results of just how much you have grown and developed in only a few months. Be proud of everything that you write down, for it didn’t just happen, you worked and you learned it into happening.
Physically (example: you can now run 10 miles, or walk for 30 minutes without getting winded)
Emotionally (example: you find yourself less reactive and more forgiving)
Intellectually (example: you are more disciplined about reading or journaling)
Legacy (example: you’ve figured out that you have something specific that you want to do with your life)
Challenge of the Weekend:
Please do the following workout this weekend and time yourself. Write down your time. Give yourself five days to recover and then do the workout again. You may use the treadmill or simply run/walk outside, and since there is no equipment required, everyone should be able to do this one! (Note: if you have shoulder or jumping issues, you may substitute the push-ups and burpees for squats and dips). The goal is to compare your previous time to your second time doing it and see the improvement! You have full control over how much or how little rest you get in between exercises. Challenge yourself and see yourself rise to the challenge! This is a great little workout to cycle into your routine every month or so.
5 Rounds of the following:
5 minutes running / walking (medium effort)
10x push ups
10x burpees
Celebrating your many forms of personal transformations,
Trish
