Life is all about perspective. What you see if not always what you get. You must select your perspective carefully and wisely if you wish to live a life filled with happiness, healthiness, and joy. Select your thoughts in the same way you select your clothes…do it each and every morning and make sure they suit you.
Rob Bell’s newly released book, Drops Like Stars, speaks of this intentionality of life. In it, he speaks of the many conflicting ways in which our lives blend in a duality of joy and sorrow. The book is a great, quick read, but what I liked most about it was his closing statements about raindrops. Bell describes how his entire perception of rain / bad weather changed one day when his son pointed out to him that raindrops look like stars when they hit the ground. Momentarily, equipped with a new thought approach, Bell was able to look at the torrential downpour surrounding him as a galaxy of brilliance, a celestial world brought for a millisecond from heaven to earth with every drop hitting the ground.
So, choose your thoughts wisely. Dress yourself mentally with an empowering mindset, just as you dress yourself to impress every day. And, most importantly, when it starts to rain in your life — and I mean rain hard — be sure to look for the millions of stars that surround you. The silver lining is always in the rainy clouds if we are self-aware enough to look for it.
