“Dreams feel real we’re in them; it’s only when we wake up that we realize that they’re strange.” Though I fell asleep while watching the film Inception, I did garnish this quotation from it and it seems to be perfectly fitted for the arrival of a new year. The coming of a new year is more than just a calendar change, it is an opportunity to dream. I love December 31st for its opportunity to celebrate the past 365 days of my life, and I equally celebrate the arrival of January 1st for its whimsical ability to inspire new dreams into my heart.
We are more apt to follow our dreams when we don’t limit ourselves to the “strangeness” of them. One of the most beautiful things about dreams is that they express our deepest state of unconsciousness, our childlike ability to believe that the impossible is in fact possible.
What dreams did you limit yourself from truly believing in during 2010? Are these dreams and goals really so very strange and unattainable, or do you simply not believe in yourself? I am convinced that our subconscious speaks the deepest desires of our heart and it is when we pursue those dreams that we feel most fully alive.
Make 2011 the 365 days of your life that you achieve everything you ever imagined. Do not set limits on yourself and never let yourself over-analyze the legitimacy of your dreams — for dreams are not strange, as long as we let ourselves believe that they can be real.
