THE SURPRISING REASON DISCOURAGEMENT IS A GOOD THING
Discouragement is a signal often confused. It is far too frequently misinterpreted to be a sign that we aren’t doing the right thing, that we aren’t qualified to do what we are doing, or that what we are doing is just too tough or too hard. The surprising truth is just the opposite. Discouragement is actually a good thing. It means that we are living at the end of our comfort zone – that we are stepping out and doing something that matters to us, that we are pushing ourselves, and ultimately, that we care about what it is that we are doing.
Instead of being surprised by the bouts of discouragement that will inevitably creep into your life, embrace them. By embracing the discouragement you are better able to depersonalize it, recognizing that it is simply part of the process of a life well-lived. It is when you understand that you should in fact be discouraged from time-t0-time that you increase your inner strength to be more resilient and more confident in your seasons of discouragement. No longer will your inner fortitude allow you to throw in the towel or get derailed by the emotions you feel; instead you accept discouragement as a challenge and as a rally-cry to move forward with even more enthusiasm than you were moving before.
I put together my thoughts about discouragement on a recent Facebook Live coaching session (not connected with me on Facebook? I am confident that after watching this video you will feel empowered and excited about discouragement and will be able to see it with new eyes.
Onward, my friend, be encouraged, especially in the face of discouragement!
