When we long for life without difficulties, remind us that oaks grow strong in contrary winds and diamonds are made under pressure. – Peter Marshall
Our experiences in life chisel us just like lifting in the gym can chisel and sculpt the body if approached properly. In order to symmetrically sculpt the human body however, you must approach your workout with balance, perspective, patience, and a plan. Life is no different. If we want our experiences to chisel us into better versions of ourselves, then we must approach life with a planned, symmetrical perspective, and that is a perspective with patience and positivity.
Diamonds are formed 100 miles below the surface; the simple, non-scientific explanation is that due to the pressure of the weight of the overlying rock bearing down and the high temperatures of the soil that deep below Earth’s surface, diamond crystals form. Simply put, diamonds would not exist without pressure. Also, they do not form instantaneously; their perfection takes time, lots of time, hundreds upon hundreds of years. So too should we be patient with ourselves in our own formation.
Allow your challenging circumstances of life to refine you. Sometimes the chiseling effects of the pressure may sting and may hurt, but with the right perspective you can see that you are being sculpted into the perfect diamond shape that you are destined to be.
