We all crave high performance from ourselves; fundamentally, we all are seeking abundant life. It is truly the rare minority of people who live as opposed to existing and merely surviving, and I believe that you are called to lead the way in showing others how to really let go, love life and LIVE.
In their book, The Power of Full Engagement, authors Jim Loehr and Tony Schwartz have wise words to say about the currency used in living a full life, that is, a life that leaves a legacy. “Energy, not time, is the fundamental currency of high performance.” They continue in writing that “every one of our thoughts, emotions and behaviors has an energy consequence, for better or for worse. The ultimate measure of our lives is not how much time we spend on the planet, but rather how much energy we invest in the time that we have.”
Use your currency of energy wisely this week. Recharge yourself through endorphin-inducing workouts, personal quiet time for meditation or prayer and healthy nutritional choices to fuel your tank.
Together, we are leading the way of high performance living, so buckle up and accept the task. Remember not to be discouraged if others around you aren’t making as good of decisions as you are. Heck, people around you might even try to pull you back when they see you trying to become fully engaged with your energy. It’s normal: anytime you rock the status quo, you will ignite opposition from others. It’s not that they don’t want success for you, it’s just that by stepping outside of the norm, you are highlighting to them, well, to all who are stuck in making excuses for not moving their life and their mindsets forward, that they are stuck. Press on. Engage yourself in spending the currency of your energy well this week and go rock the boat.
Remember, if we are going to live uncommon lives, we need to make uncommon daily choices. Moreover, you have people in your life to inspire. They are just waiting for you to set the example and take the lead.
