Greatness is a challenge. Really, I mean it. Sometimes, to be truly great, it takes someone outside of ourselves to challenge us to rise to the task of our calling.
I am speaking from first-hand experience, from a scenario that should have been something to have happened in a book or in a movie, except that it happened to me. Yesterday.
Yesterday, I was challenged to greatness by a mentor. At a lunch book club, this mentor pulled out $2500 in cash, put in on the table and challenged the three of us gathered there to create a plan of success that will push us to be better versions of ourselves. We have six-weeks to complete a task and whoever completes it best wins the $2500 investment towards making their dreams a reality.
As Archilochus famously said, “we don’t rise to the level of our expectations, we fall to the level of our training.” Goals, be them business related, fitness related, or family related, require training, and training require planning. Plan, prepare, and remember the classic seven “P” adage –proper prior preparation prevents piss poor performance — if you are ready to accept the challenge of being the best version of yourself possible. Accept the challenge: go for greatness.
