La vie, c’est magnifique.
Magnificent is a word that is in my mind very underused in the English language. In French however, everything is magnificent, or magnifique. I believe that our experience of life can change dramatically all depending upon the adjectives with which we choose to describe things. It’s no wonder why I am inexplicably happy whenever I am in France, thinking in French, or reminiscing about my experiences in France. There is a beautiful richness to the French language that makes everything about life seductively magical.
Nothing is humdrum in life when you start using rich words to describe and savor your daily experiences. My coffee this morning? Magnifique. My ten-mile run? Magnifique. Mowing my lawn with my dreadful three-wheeled rickety push mower? Magnifique.
Today, c’est magnifique; start savoring the little things in your weekend this weekend à la magnifique and I promise you won’t be disappointed.
