A ship is harbor is safe, but that’s not why ships are built. The heart is safe alone and walled up, but that’s not why hearts are made. We are made for connection with others, we are made to sail away and conquer our dreams, in site of our greatest fears. The unknown can be terrifying, but it is what defines our paths.
Should we stay docked in harbor our whole lives, we will find ourselves stranded ashore, always wondering what if. Should we set sail, in whatever capacity that might mean to us, we will allow ourselves to be open to the risks of the unpredictable, and it is in that unpredictability that we will experience internal freedom. Our hearts are built to beat life, joy, happiness, adventure, and love — let your heart beat in spite of the fear it may feel.
Courage is a special kind of knowledge: the knowledge of how to fear waht ought to be feared and how not to fear what ought not to be feared. -David Ben-Gurion
