To celebrate the weekend, I’m giving away two copies of my e-book, Building a Better Body Image: 50-Day to Loving Yourself from the Inside Out. As a teaser, here’s Day One of the book. Read on and share on. To participate in the contest, share this post on your Facebook wall and you’ll be among those selected to win.
Here’s what Kris, one of the most recent readers of Building a Better Body Image has to say:
|Building a Better Body Image is changing my life. I’ve had some serious break through with this! Man I am so lucky that I can across Trish and her amazing perspective. I am developing the most meaningful relationship ever and it’s with me!! And I’m changing beliefs that stem from childhood that I didn’t even know are the cause of my Body Image issues. The daily exercises are perfect and easy but yet so effective!!! Thank you SO much Trish! This has really given me a new out look to know I’m not going to be losing the same 90lbs over and over again. I’m fixing the root of what’s causing me to gain. Thank YOU.|
THE WORLD NEEDS YOU
I feel compelled to be bold about my vulnerability to share a string of experiences that don’t get talked about, that silently destroy people’s vitality, and that would be easier for me to cover up through honed perfectionism and extroverted professionalism. The truth is, though, that the world needs my voice, and I don’t say this in a pretentious manner because the truth is that the world needs everyone’s voice.
Many are quick to assume that I’ve always had it easy, or that I’m naturally comfortable in my skin — I am the epitome of the “all-American girl,” but the truth couldn’t be any further. I know anorexia, I know bulimia, I know compulsive exercise, I know binge eating disorder, I know body dysmorphia, I know a fear of food, I know athletic disappointment, I know rape, I know relationship abuse, I know loneliness, and I know what it feels like to be a prisoner in my own body. I know all these things, but I also know freedom from them, healing from them, and, in turn, great joy, personal growth and triumph through them. Without being honest about and sharing my past, my present message doesn’t resonate as powerfully, and, well, the world needs to know that there is hope.
The world needs you, but it is up to you to figure out in what capacity that will be. Be bold and humble so that you can share your experiences — your failures and your triumphs — with others in a way that will encourage and transform them. Your voice is needed as much as mine. Your story can change lives if you let it. Your passions have a purpose if you spend some time in introspection to find exactly where and how to combine what brings you joy, what you are good at, and what the world needs you to share.
Be thankful for your past, for it is a story that can and will change lives if only you let it.
Challenge of the Day:
Share with someone something from your past that you don’t typically share with others. Open up your story, because it is in your story that your greatness lies, and that greatness needs to be shared with the world.
