One of my favorite Christmas presents this year was a pair of Joe’s Jeans, except that they didn’t fit me. They were too big. I returned them for another pair, except that the company was out of my correct size. So I waited a month to reorder what I expected to be my perfect pair of jeans. My perfect jeans came in today, and disappointment set in when I realized that they were now too small and the wrong design of Joe’s. To go along with my frustration, my second favorite Christmas gift was a pair of boots, of which I also found out this morning were the wrong size, for the second time.
For a short moment this morning I allowed my frustration over two simple material things win. It took a few minutes before I consciously realized that I was wasting my morning and my own energy over the wrong battle. Choose your battles wisely in life. Don’t allow trivial frustrations to win over your attention when it’s not a battle in which you need to engage. Let the small stuff go and save your energy for the things in life that actually matter.
