Life is filled with joie de vivre in the moments we least expect it. Seven months ago, while on the phone with my New York City friend Angi, she was approached by a golden retriever carrying a balloon in his mouth. According to her story, it wiggled its entire body and practically smiled at her, and here’s the catch, it reminded her of me when I am happy.
Needless to say, I didn’t believe her exaggerated tale until yesterday when while we were catching up on one another’s gossip, she screamed and hung up on me. I then received a photo text and a phone call back; the happy Trisha-look-a-like had graced her path again. In a city with over 8.5 million people, it is rare to run into the same characters on any given day. Moreover, to run into a dog carrying balloons is like winning the lottery.
The more that we look for these lottery moments in our daily lives, the more we will see them. Our lives are sprinkled with uplifting moments that have the potential to change the way we see ourselves, our bodies, our stresses, our values, and our day-to-day living if only we take the time to let the happiness that these moments bring simmer in our minds long enough to change the way we see the world.
