AS DIFFERENT AS GREAT DANES & CHIHUAHUAS

By TrishBlackwell on December 3, 2010 in Blog, Meaning, Movement

People’s tastes in dogs never fails to amaze me.  Some like big dogs, some small, and some not at all.  I myself am a Great Dane kind of girl; I’ve recently come dangerously close to buying a Dane puppy, but resisted thanks to the common sense of my friends and family who reminded me that my lifestyle and work schedule simply don’t support raising a puppy.  In the future however, my Great Dane will be named pois chiche, or chick-pea en français; he will weigh more than me and he will be a lap dog.

Breeds of dogs remind me of the beautiful diversity found in human bodies.  We are all so very different and it is our differences that make us so loveable.   Attraction and beauty is in the eye of the beholder, just as it is in the eye of the dog owner who would never consider owning a Great Dane and instead would opt for a Chihuahua.

My family lives, breathes and competes agility with their three English Cocker Spaniels.   Imagine though if Buzz, Breezy or Bethany didn’t love themselves because they wanted to be Great Danes.   Like the quote below says, “no one is going to love you if you don’t love yourself,” and I think this couldn’t be any more true.  Love yourself.  Embrace your shape, your “flaws”, your gifts, your quirks, and your personality, and know that you are exactly how you are meant to be!

Love yourself for who you are today; make a list of twenty things about you that make you you and make you so incredibly loveable.
