My secret pleasure is reading the dictionary. I started reading the dictionary for fun in high school, a habit that I would have hoped would have enriched my daily vocabulary more extensively than it actually has, but I’ll suffice it to say that I didn’t always stick to English dictionaries, often substituting for French, Spanish, or Italian ones, so I am excused from being expected to have an elegant vocabulary. I love the dictionary because I love the richness of words – the depth of their meaning, the playful ingenuity they can have, and the ways in which they transform the way my mind thought and perceive the world.
Life is a compilation of the words that we choose to describe it with, so open up your dictionary and your mind to thinking creatively with the words with which you paint your life. The adjectives which you habitually use in conversation will become the adjectives that will spill over into your life.
Chose adjectives that make you come alive and,l in turn, your days will add up richly.
