The only thing holding you back in life is you. You are the only one making any self-presumed assumptions as to whether or not you will fail or succeed at whatever it is that you want to do. Author Timothy Ferriss, an entrepreneurial genius, wrote in his book The 4-Hour Work Week that “the options (of our lives) are limitless, but each path begins with the same first step: replacing assumptions.” We must replace any inkling of an assumption within our sub-conscious that we might fail, that we might not be good enough, or that we don’t have the tools we need to succeed, and substitute it with confidence and action. Former Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli captured the essence and imperative importance of action in our lives in saying that “action may not always bring happiness, but there is no happiness without action.”
“‘Someday'” is a disease that will take your dreams to the grave with you,” wrote Timothy Ferriss, and I agree. Stop waiting for a sign in your life to take action, stop with the excuses, and be a person of action. As any fortune cookie would tell you, many a false step was made by standing still. Whatever you are standing still on today, if you’re waiting for a sign, this is it. Onward to making your “someday” today.
A thought which does not result in an action is nothing much, and an action which does not proceed from a thought is nothing at all. -Unknown.
