- Mention how reframing is a powerful tool in coaching and personal development.
Understanding Limiting Beliefs and Anxiety
- What Are Limiting Beliefs?
- E limiting beliefs (e.g., “I’m not good enough,” “I can’t do this,” “I’ll always fail”).
- Discuss how they can hold you back and create self-doubt.
Common Hidden Limiting Beliefs:
- “I have to do everything perfectly or it’s not worth doing.”
→ Perfectionism masquerading as high standards.
- “If I can’t do it right away, I’m not good at it.”
→ Blocks growth, learning, and resilience.
- “I don’t want to make others uncomfortable.”
→ Often a cover for people-pleasing or fear of rejection.
- “It’s safer not to try than to fail.”
→ Fear disguised as “being realistic.”
- “If I speak up, people will think I’m arrogant or annoying.”
→ Silences voices and dims natural leadership.
- “Others are already doing it better, so why bother?”
→ Comparison paralyzes progress.
- “Success requires constant hustle and stress.”
→ Blocks flow, ease, and joy.
- “I’m too much.” / “I’m not enough.”
→ Two sides of the same lie.
- “Confidence is something you’re born with.”
→ Stops people from developing it as a skill.
- “I’m just not someone who follows through.”
→ Reinforces an old story that doesn’t have to stay true.
- “If I slow down, everything will fall apart.”
→ Hides burnout and fear of letting go of control.
- “I always mess things up eventually.”
→ Creates self-sabotage and over-vigilance.
- “I’m only valuable when I’m productive.”
→ Ties self-worth to output, not being.
- “This is just how I am.”
→ Blocks growth and keeps people stuck in identity-based limitations.
- “If they don’t approve of me, I must be doing something wrong.”
→ Undermines authentic living and inner trust.
How Anxiety is Connected to Limiting Beliefs
- Break down the relationship between anxiety and limiting beliefs.
- Example: “When we tell ourselves we can’t succeed or we’re not capable, it can create anxiety about taking action, even on things we want to do.”
Why Reframing Works
- Talk about how our brains automatically latch onto these limiting thoughts and beliefs.
- Introduce how reframing helps break the cycle by choosing new perspectives.
Reframing Your Thoughts for Confidence and Calm
How to Reframe Limiting Beliefs
- Introduce the Reframe Formula:
- Notice It: Become aware of your thoughts.
- Name It: Identify what the belief is.
- Neutralize It: Remind yourself it’s just a thought or belief, not a truth.
- Reframe It: Find a new, more empowering perspective.
The Reframe Formula:
- Notice the thought
- Name the feeling
- Neutralize the judgment
- Nurture a new narrative

The Reframe Formula™:
- Notice it: “That’s a limiting belief about my career.”
- Name it: “This thought makes me feel stuck and small.”
- Neutralize it: “That’s just a belief, not the truth about me.”
- Reframe it: “I have everything I need to be successful, and I’m learning as I go.”
