HOW I WENT FROM BODY DYSYMPORHIC TO BODY CONFIDENT

Instead of expecting your issues to disappear, focus on the development of your relationship with your body. For years I limited my growth and healing because I expected perfection in my body and my thoughts. I had to learn to think more openly, more kindly and more critically about why what mattered to me mattered.
 
Pay attention to thought patterns and assumptions you make about yourself, and about others. (For example, I assumed I was broken, a freak and that change was impossible – I didn’t even realize I had settled into a state of despair but I had. // I also assumed that no one else struggled like I did. So I looked at people and always thought to myself, “must be nice”…to not think about everything, to not count every calorie, to not question every thing that you think or to look in the mirror without criticism.)
 
Instead of generalizing your desired change – use the power of specificity to start the transformation process.
 
Ask yourself what you want to be different, and get specific.
-Do you want to look in the mirror with kindness?
-Do you want to stop avoiding mirrors?
-Do you want to throw your scale away and never have to weigh yourself again?
-Do you want to believe that you will be free from compulsive calorie counting in the future?
-Do you want to break the patterns of self-sabotage, binge eating or compulsive exercise?
-Do you want to measure your worth by what’s on the inside instead of the outside?

 

10 STRATEGIES FOR BETTER BODY IMAGE

 

  1. Decide to be friends with your body. Show up as a friend daily.
  2. Compliment yourself in the mirror every morning.
  3. Stretch in the morning and at night and touch your body.
  4. Do active gratitude for your body type.
  5. Compliment others freely and generously – it will boomerang back to you.
  6. Find a style that makes you feel amazing – invest in it, you are worth it.
  7. Thank your body every day for what it did for you.
  8. Know what works for your body and what doesn’t.
  9. Believe that your body gets more beautiful every day.
  10. Stand tall and take up space.

 

5 THINGS TO TELL YOUSELF DAILY TO BLOOM IN YOUR BEAUTY:

 

  1. I am owning the uniqueness of my beauty more and more every day.
  2. I am an expression of God’s workmanship and am created in His image, and that makes me radiant.
  3. I am beautiful and I will clothe myself in kind words about myself today.
  4. I am a loved fully and I have permission to bloom.
  5. I am amazed by the story my body tells and the gift it gives me in this world.
