As always, a quick hello to all of my Keep the Faith listeners, thanks for being a part of this extended community of contagious encouragement.

SPONSORSHIP NOTE:

For us, March 4th is a day of activism and advocacy, and so this March, I am highlighting the need for clean and safe personal care products. If you are someone that uses any sort of personal care product (shampoo, deodorant, lotion, toothpaste, etc.) I am working for a company that is FIGHTING FOR YOU and the products you use everyday. You see, this isn’t about us selling a face lotion that will make your wrinkles smooth away, this is about us fighting FOR A SOLUTION to the fact that of the 80,000 chemicals in the marketplace 80% have never been tested for human safety. Moreover, the lack of regulation in products right now means that MANY products contain known toxins that are dramatically impacting our health in negative ways.

We have the right for better – help us demand better. YOU CAN MAKE YOUR VOICE KNOWN WITH A SIMPLE TEXT MESSAGE. Text “BetterBeauty” to 52886 to ask Congress for better beauty laws. It’s that simple – one quick text and you are making a positive impact!

We work because we can’t stand by idly as harmful chemicals cause our loved ones to get sick, struggle with fertility, and give birth to children with significant health issues. We work towards cleaner beauty everywhere because this is personal to all of us.

WHY ARE WE TALKING ABOUT PROMISES?

“It’s too easy to break your promises to yourself, after all, no one knows but you.”

Brandon and I were talking about this topic one day driving to the gym. He wanted to know what made it so easy for me to always follow thorugh – and it’s because I learned to keep my promises.

Pinkie promises – Ellie is learning this – I loved this concept growing up and I was that kid obsessed about keeping a promise.

HOW TO KEEP PROMISES TO YOURSELF

BE SPECIFIC.

Your promise is like a contact – and it needs to be clear and specific. Shoot, write out a contract.

TELL OTHERS.

CREATE A LOGICAL, SUSTAINABLE GAME-PLAN

HAVE CONSEQUENCES OR REWARDS.

TRACK SOMETHING DAILY

EXPECT RESISTENCE / TEMPTATION

Plan ahead

WHAT WORKED FOR ME:

I made promises to myself that I broke for years – because I didn’t value myself. I also didn’t trust myself once I broke enough promises.

So, to change, not only did I change how I thought about myself (but that took time) … but I needed an immediate help to assist and propel the change, so I got others involved who would help me keep my promises.

7 SNEAKY REASONS WE BREAK OUR PROMISES:

  1. We get distracted.
  2. We don’t schedule time for what we need.
  3. We let fatigue shout in our ears.
  4. We create “tomorrow” as a magical place.
  5. We expect instant results and get discouraged when it takes time.
  6. We let peer pressure speak louder than our wants
  7. We use the “lazy” card

LISTENER OF THE EPISODE:

Hi Trish,

Where do I even begin?!

I have been listening to you now for 6 months. I was first introduced by a friend who encouraged me to work on my own personal development along with a healthy lifestyle change so I could learn to manage my anxiety and lack of confidence.  I was hooked the very first time I heard you. I think I binged 6-7 episodes in just a few days.  Your kind words have been so powerful and encouraging to me.

A couple weeks ago your podcast focused on little and easy ways to have more courage and honestly it couldn’t have come at a better time. My whole life I have struggled with showing the world the real me and pushing myself to see my true potential. You have given me the courage to look at my rejections in a more positive light and know that I pushed myself to new limits even if I didn’t get the outcome I wanted. I so look forward to my date with you every Tuesday as I commute home from my job as a mental health social worker.

Wondering if you have ever done a podcast on building confidence to overcome jealousy? I couldn’t find anything when I searched but feel like it would be a very beneficial subject for me.

Thank you thank you thank! I hope I get the honor of connecting in person! Much love.
