CONFIDENT CHOICES VERSUS FEARFUL ONES: / MAKING DECISIONS BECAUSE YOU WANT TO VERSUS BECAUSE YOU FEEL LIKE YOU SHOULD:

Motivation and intention matters.

You must dig deep into your heart to really find out the why behind what you do and behind why you do what you want to do.

Intention sometimes isn’t obvious to us, but whenever we are able to identify that our intentions / motivations are fear-based, we are automatically set up for failure.  Fear, even in small amounts, always brings with it its friends: self-doubt, uncertainty, hesitation and anxiety. Together, these weigh heavily on our hearts and our ability to really take action in life.

HOW TO DECIDE WHAT REALLY MATTERS TO YOU:

This new wellness consciousness was overwhelming for me at first; I wasn’t sure where to start and where to stop, at what point the small changes I made were making a difference and at what point I needed to do more. And then I remembered the compound effect – which is much of the essence of what I teach in everything I do – that every little thing we do does matter and that in culmination, over time, they make large differences.

Here are the questions I asked myself when trying to figure out what really mattered to me when it came to the products I was putting on and around my body:

  • What would I do to protect myself from something that knowingly contributes to cancer, to hormone disruption, to reproductive complications, to weight gain / metabolic confusion and allergies?
  • To what extent would I protect my child if I knew they were in a toxic environment and I could do something to minimize the impact of that environment from negatively affecting them?
  • Where do I use the most products in my life – for myself, for my baby, for my husband and for our house? How frequently are those products used and could I easily make safer substitutions?
  • If I look back at the knowledge I now know twenty-years from now and did not take action on some of these “inconvenient truths” by keeping my head buried in the sand or my product use the same out of convenience, would I have regrets and what potential regrets might those be?
  • How can I use what I now know to make confident decisions as the primary decision maker for purchases and products that I put in my family, on my family and around my family?

QUESTIONS TO ASK YOURSELF:

  • What is my true motivating and driving factor? Why does doing this or having this goal really matter to me?
  • By making these decisions or pursuing this particular goal am I pursuing something or avoiding something?
  • Does what I choose to do have to do with what I want or does it have more to do with what other people want or what they might potentially think of me?
  • How can I pursue my decisions and follow-through more out of confidence in what is to come rather than out of fear of what might not happen if I don’t?
  • How long have I delayed doing something that I really want to do / delayed a decision out of fear rather than relying on my own self-efficacy and on having confidence in my ability to adapt to whatever change came my way as needed?
